Rafting down the Dunajec River is the most frequently chosen attraction by tourists. The Dunajec River Gorge is one of the most scenic places in Poland, it is worth seeing it from the perspective of a raft. The sound of the water and the surroundings of beautiful nature included in the Pieniny National Park allow you to relax and get to know the surrounding nature closer. It is also a cultural attraction. The raft is led by a real rafter dressed in regional clothes. Rafting trips have a rich tradition - the tourist ones have been organized for almost 200 years! Initially, they were run by peasants who dealt with rafting, i.e. river transport, hence the today's name rafter. The precursor of tourist trips was Józef Szalay - a great activist, also considered the creator of the Szczawnica health resort.
The trip begins at the rafting marina in Sromowce Kąty or at the marina in Sromowce Niżne, and ends in Szczawnica or Krościenko. The route to Szczawnica is about 18 km long and takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes, and the route to Krościenko is 23 km long and takes about 3 hours. Both routes are 6 km shorter and about 40 minutes if we start from Sromowce Niżne.
