The tourist attractions of the Muszyna-Zdrój Commune include, among others:

Ski resorts - although there is currently no ski resort within 50 km from Muszyna, there are as many as 15 of them (e.g. in Krynica-Zdrój, Piwniczna-Zdrój, Rytro, Tylicz, Kamianna and in the nearby area of Slovakia). Most of them can be reached by car from the city center in about 15-35 minutes. A large and varied selection of ski resorts means that every lover of snow skiing will find something for himself, regardless of whether he is looking for an intimate resort with a dragline off the beaten track, or one of the top ski stations in the country, which are not lacking in the area. Snowboard enthusiasts are recommended to use modern snow parks operating at large ski stations.

Natural objects in the commune are: Mofeta, Czarna Młaka, Obrożyska Lime Forest, Hajj, Żebracze and Uroczysko reserves,   Sensory Gardens, Magic Gardens, Bible Gardens.

Historic buildings in the commune include: ten Orthodox churches,   including one entered on the UNESCO list, castle ruins, baroque church, museum, Jewish cemetery, historic burgher buildings, reconstruction of the sixteenth-century town hall cellars.

The most important factors influencing the tourist attractiveness of the Muszyna commune are therefore the presence of tourist attractions, peace and quiet in close contact with nature, and the presence of tourist and para-tourist infrastructure elements, such as: bicycle routes, educational paths, road infrastructure and others.

In turn, the factors weakening the tourist attractiveness of the Muszyna commune include: poor transport accessibility of the commune (long travel time from Kraków and Nowy Sącz),   poorly developed communication to Slovakia, as well as the lack of a common, complementary tourist offer with neighboring municipalities. In addition, in accordance with the provisions of the Development Strategy of the Muszyna Health Resort Commune for 2013-2020, factors lowering the tourist potential of the commune include, among others:

  • insufficiently developed tourist and recreational infrastructure (ski lifts, downhill and cross-country tracks, bicycle, hiking and horse trails),
  • no programs supporting the retraining of farms towards agritourism and organic food production,
  • outdated condition of the majority of spa and hotel facilities, which requires urgent and costly modernization,
  • lack of targeting of the tourist and spa offer (customer segmentation),
  • no support system for entrepreneurs;
  • high seasonality in leading economic sectors (construction and hotel services);
  • underinvestment of companies,
  • insufficient level of development of tourism infrastructure, which hinders economic development,
  • part of the hotel infrastructure that does not meet the growing requirements of customers,
  • lack of proper marking and description of monuments,
  • lack of a database of joint projects in the field of cross-border cooperation and the resulting difficulty in creating joint projects,
  • unsatisfactory quality of municipal roads,
  • insufficient development of the Poprad boulevards for tourist and recreational purposes,
  • poor management of the stream valleys and their immediate surroundings for recreational and leisure purposes,
  • high air pollution.

The tourist potential of the commune (including the health resort), with its proper management and use, creates great opportunities for the economic development of the commune as a competitive center for spa, treatment and tourist services.
