The Rabka-Zdrój commune is a center of outstanding tourist and spa values. The advantage of the health resort is its climate, mineral water resources as well as landscape and tourist values. Rabka-Zdrój is located in the northern part of the Nowy Targ County. It is surrounded by mountain ranges - from the south-east by Gorce, and from the north by Beskid Wyspowy (Luboń Wielki range). Since 1967, Rabka-Zdrój has the status of a mountain health resort with therapeutic profiles, incl. diseases of the upper respiratory tract, orthopedic and traumatic diseases, diseases of the lower respiratory tract, cardiological and hypertension, skin diseases, diabetes. Rabka-Zdrój is also one of the most popular health resorts for children and adults in Poland. Its natural resources are brines, used mainly to treat respiratory and circulatory system diseases. Patients take advantage of the therapeutic benefits of bathing and brine inhalations, but the spa also offers a whole range of SPA treatments that have a positive effect on the body. There is a modern spa and treatment infrastructure as well as sports and recreation infrastructure in the spa area. An example is Rabczańskie Boulevard with a pedestrian and bicycle path, renovated footbridges, lighting and interesting green arrangements. Moreover, new brine graduation towers, a pond, a small river and a waterfall were built. Recreation is provided by a climbing wall, an outdoor gym and a beach volleyball court.

The town is located in a picturesque valley at the foot of the Gorce and Beskid Wyspowy mountains at an altitude of about 600 m above sea level. The brines used during drinking, bathing and inhalation treatments are an important natural resource of Rabka-Zdrój. The proximity of the Gorce National Park, the Luboń Wielki Reserve and such tourist infrastructure or the Spa Park makes Rabka-Zdrój one of the most interesting tourist towns in Poland. The Gorce National Park (GPN) covers a part of the mountain range called Gorce. The northern border of Gorce runs along the Rabka-Zdrój valley (from Rabka-Zdrój to Mszana Dolna) and the Mszanka valley, from the south - by the road from Krościenko to Nowy Targ, from the east - the border is the Dunajec River, and from the west - the Podhale Range on the section from Nowy Targ to Chabówka. The highest peak of Gorce is Turbacz, rising to a height of 1,311 m above sea level. The most attractive parts of Gorce are protected in the Gorce National Park (area 7,019 ha), which was created in 1982 to protect the local flora and fauna - Carpathian forests, as well as alpine vegetation and subalpine. The symbol of the Gorce National Park is the spotted salamander - the largest tailed amphibian occurring in Poland.

Gorce offers great conditions for hiking, skiing and cycling. The attractions of the Gorce and Gorce National Park are also rich natural values, including Carpathian primeval forests with a rich flora and a diverse animal world (deer, roe deer, wild boar, lynx or wolves, and even bears and numerous species of birds, such as: golden eagle, buzzard) , honey buzzard, hawk, hawk, owls, forest grouse and amphibians, including: viviparous lizard, spotted salamander.

From Rabka-Zdrój to the Beskid Wyspowy, several attractive natural and scenic hiking trails lead through the Luboń Wielki inanimate nature reserve constituting the Natura 2000 PLH120043 area. The "Luboń Wielki" inanimate nature reserve was established on the basis of the order of the Minister of Forestry and Wood Industry of July 15, 1970 in order to preserve, for scientific and didactic reasons, a flysch landslide with a wealth of rock formations with original shapes. Originally, its area was 11.80 ha, but in 2004, pursuant to the ordinance of the Minister of the Environment, it was enlarged to 35.24 ha. The area has been under NATURA 2000 protection since 2008. The reserve is situated on the sharp south-eastern slope of Luboń Wielki in the Beskid Wyspowy. The land is managed by the State Forests and the Limanowa Forest District. The yellow tourist trail from Rabka-Zaryte leading to the top of Luboń Wielki, which passes here, is called "Perć Borkowski" in this section. In the central part of the area there is a large flysch landslide with a deeply running slip surface on the border of the thick-bedded sandstones of the Magura Eocene Formation. In the reserve, the elements of flora and fauna characteristic for beech and mixed forests of the lower montane zone are protected. There are foxgloves and snowdrops here, which are fully protected. In this area you can meet roe deer, wild boar, deer, foxes, pine martens and weasels. Due to the existence of caves and rock shelters, the reserve has also become an attraction for cavers and tourists. In the "Luboń Wielki" reserve, there are currently 13 caves and shelters, the largest of which is the Cave in Luboń Wielki II (26 m long and 9 m of height difference), it is also the only one with its own microclimate, and bats hibernate there in winter.

In the center of Rabka-Zdrój there is an extensive (23.59 ha) Spa Park. As a result of the comprehensive revitalization, the Spa Park was compositionally divided into two parts of a different nature. Currently, the western part of the so-called sun zone, serves as a representative and recreational. There are ten themed gardens with a variety of vegetation, incl. rose garden, rockeries, creepers and moorland. In this part, there are also the biggest attractions of the Park: a graduation tower, playgrounds, tennis courts and a café. The second (eastern) part of the Park is the so-called a shadow zone with a strolling-reflective character, referring to the atmosphere of an English park. The alleys are run along straight lines among tall trees and shrubs. The spa and treatment functions as well as the sports and recreational functions are connected with a pedestrian and bicycle path, the footbridges have been renovated and the greenery has been preserved. In addition, as part of the spa infrastructure, local spa values, such as water and brine, were used. Everything was supplemented with elements of small architecture and meeting places. After the revitalization, the park has become a real showpiece of the health resort.

Rabka-Zdrój abounds in tourist, natural and cultural routes. Several hiking trails run through the city, intended for both experienced hikers and walkers. The health resort is located i.a. on the route of the longest hiking trail in the Polish mountains - the Main Beskid Trail. The trail is marked in red and is 519 km long. The highest peak of the Gorce Mountains - Turbacz (1,310 m above sea level) leads from Rabka. From the center of the town and its suburbs - Zaryty, trails lead to Luboń Wielki (1022 m above sea level), one of the highest culminations of the Beskid Wyspowy. The health resort has a "Forest Educational Path" in the area of Uroczysko "Krzywoń", which allows you to get to know the natural values of the area. There are also cultural routes in the commune, presenting the architectural and cultural treasures of the region.

The mineral waters in Rabka-Zdrój belong to the chloride-sodium-hydride-bromine brines. The brines are used for bathing, drinking and inhalation treatments. They are used to treat catarrh of the respiratory tract, anemia, allergic diseases, bronchial asthma, exudative diathesis, rickets, metabolic diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and atherosclerosis. Mineral water is extracted by the Health Resort Rabka-Zdrój, Branch Rabka-Zdrój.

The vegetation of the health resort consists mainly of forest communities, from meadow scrub, through deciduous forests (beech, oak-hornbeam forest) and mixed forests, to fir and spruce forests. The natural forest cover, especially in the lower parts, has been largely destroyed today - now it is replaced by secondary plant communities, mainly field, meadow, artificial spruce and pine forests. Small patches of riverside mountain alder trees on the Raba river, small fragments of beech forests on the slopes of Gorce and Luboń, and fir forests on the slopes of the Beskid Wyspowy, Maciejowa and Grzebień have preserved their nature close to the natural ones. The forests surrounding the health resort fulfill essential protective functions for mineral waters, springs and running waters, moreover, they have a soothing effect on the local climate, constituting a buffer zone for the health resort, and are included in protected areas by law. The more interesting representatives of the flora include, among others protected plants, among which stand out: the conspiracy saffron known as the crocus, the spring snowstorm known as the snowdrop, as well as the anemone as well as the common nine and the gold-headed lilac.

The animal world consists of representatives of the Beskid fauna, species adapted to life in various habitats and climatic conditions. Mainly roe deer, red deer, wild boars and foxes occur here. A coward and weasel live near human settlements, squirrels often live in the forests and in the Spa Park. There are also birds of prey (hawks, buzzards). In forests and glades, you can meet the venomous viper, there is also a grass snake and a salamander. The world of small insects is also rich - dragonflies, butterflies, crickets.

In addition to the resources of mineral waters and landscape values, the climate is an advantage of Rabka-Zdrój. It is different from the mountain climate because it is shaped by the conflicting influences of polar-continental and polar-sea air masses. The best conditions for climatotherapy are from May to September. In the period of overheating conditions - summer, the most appropriate form of therapy is shade aging. In the autumn months, it is advisable to use exercise climatotherapy.

Moreover, the Rabka-Zdrój Commune is rich in other attractions and tourist values. Approximately 3 km north of the center of Rabka, there is the Królewska Góra hill with an observation tower. It is a wooden structure over 25 m high, from which there are beautiful views of the mountain panoramas - Gorce, Beskid Wyspowy, Babia Góra and the Tatra Mountains. The blue hiking trail leads to it, going along ul. Kościuszko towards the pass between Bania and Grzebień or from the "Polczakówka" ski lift located in Rabka-Zdrój at ul. Zaryte - the tower is situated next to its upper station. Monuments of nature include, among others: Scots pine - the tree is the most interesting natural peculiarity in the area of Rabka. It grows at ul. Orkana, on the other side of the old cemetery, has the village of   circumference 370 cm, a   its age is estimated at around 500 years; English oak - the tree grows next to the "Krakus" spring, next to the concert bowl, its circumference is 467 cm; age. approx. 300 years; two groups of European larch - they grow in the Zdrojowy Park in Rabka, at ul. Historic buildings in the commune include:

The city's architecture and historic buildings - relatively many wooden buildings have survived in Rabka-Zdrój. Even in the 1930s, villas with walls made of amphibians (logs) or wooden structures, timbered with boards, often covered with shingles, constituted the majority of newly erected residential buildings intended for patients and permanent residents. Due to the functions that wooden structures performed at the time of their construction and initial use, they can be divided into four groups: I. church buildings, II. municipal homesteads, III. spa villas, IV. residences. The specific wooden architecture of Rabka-Zdrój is a tourist attraction and creates the spa atmosphere of the commune.

There are numerous historic buildings in Rabka-Zdrój, mainly related to the characteristic spa and religious buildings. The most interesting are:

  • Church dedicated to. St. Mary Magdalene in Rabka-Zdrój - built in 1606 - now the building of the On Riptide. The larch church is surrounded by a stone wall with 14 chapels with Passion stations. At the entrance there is a stone sandstone stoup with the visible date 1839. The interior of the temple is hidden by a historic organ from 1778, made in the Rococo style, constituting a compositional whole with the choir. The walls and ceiling are covered with beautiful polychromes from 1802. The wooden main altar is decorated with polychrome figures of saints and a painting of St. Trinity adored by St. Dominic and St. Francis. This altar is from the second half of the 19th century. Since 1908, due to the construction of a new church nearby, no services are held here. The complex of buildings entered in the register of monuments includes a church, a church cemetery, a fence with pseudo-bastions and a farm building located in the fence line.
  • Cemetery chapel - the parish cemetery was established at the beginning of the 19th century, away from the wooden parish church and the then residential buildings. The old cemetery is located at Orkana Street. There is a historic tomb chapel erected for Julian Wieniawa Zubrzycki, who died in 1892 - the creator of the health resort. A quarter of a century later, Fr. Jakub Zych. The neo-Gothic chapel consists of one nave. A pointed portal leads to its interior. The front of the chapel is topped with a stepped gable, and at its corners there are pointed towers topped with pyramidal cupolas. The entire building is reinforced with buttresses, and a rectangular frieze surrounds it under the eaves of the roof. There is a turret for a bell on the shingled roof. The cemetery also houses the family tomb of the Kaden family - the last owners of these lands, the graves of people who contributed to the development of Rabka, as well as the mass grave of the January insurgents from 1863 and the graves of soldiers killed during World War I and II. There are also two memorials here: the Katyn Cross commemorating those murdered by the NKVD in Kharkiv, Miednoje and Katyn and the Monument to Fighters for Freedom and Independence with ashes brought from concentration camps.
  • Railway station complex - in 1884 a section of the Transversal Railway from Żywiec to Nowy Sącz was opened, with a passenger stop in Rabka. The railway connection made the trip to the spa much easier and shorter and thus resulted in a significant increase in the attendance at the local Bathing Plant. The station is situated at the intersection of Orkana and Zakopiańska streets. The building was built in 1925. The historic railway station complex consists of a station building, a residential building and a lineman's booth on the other side of the tracks. Currently, it has been completely renovated, among others the seat of the Public Library. In the square in front of the station building, you can admire the statue of St. Nicholas.
