The Church of Saint Adalbert in Szczawnica is an important sacred monument of the Pieniny Mountains. Legend has it that St. Wojciech, because he traveled this way to Krakow. The first church in Szczawnica was built in the 14th century. It was a wooden church that was consumed by a fire. So there was a need to create a new church. This one was built at the beginning of the 16th century. However, it quickly fell into disrepair, so much so that no priest wanted to accept a post here. Therefore, Szczawnica was part of the parish in Krościenko for many years. This led to numerous disputes between the clergy themselves as well as the clergy and the local population. As soon as the opportunity arose, Szczawnica regained its sovereignty in terms of religion. The present temple was built in 1892. It was built of local stone in the neo-Gothic style.
