CHURCH OF St. DYMITRA in Szczawnik - was built in 1841, in the type of West Lemko architecture. It has a wooden carcass structure and a tower with a pole structure. The building has three sections and one nave. There are apparent mirror vaults over the nave and presbytery. The roofs are broken, shingled and covered with sheet metal. They are decorated with three spherical turrets with blind lanterns. The interior of the church has a decoration characteristic of the Greek Catholic religious architecture of the former "Muszyna Key". Most of the monuments there are from the 19th century. However, some of them, especially valuable, have an earlier pedigree. They probably come from a temple that originally stood on the site of the present church.
These are: a late baroque side altar from 1729 with the icon of the "Transfiguration of the Lord" and the image "Christ in the tomb". The altar is enchanted by the rich floral and geometric ornamentation of the decorations. The bell from 1707 has a similar origin. Two other folk paintings from a later period deserve attention: the votive "Crucifixion" from 1854, and the icon "St. Barbara" from 1867.
The chancel is separated from the nave by a late Baroque iconostasis from the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, divided into layers according to the theme. At the very top there are pictures of the Patriarchs of the Old Testament, below the Virgin Mary in different periods of her life, and even below the Apostles. At the altar, you can see a painting of St. Nicholas, Our Lady of the Morning Star, Jesus, and St. Demetrius, the patron of the church, and the lowest scenes from the Old Testament. After the displacement of the Lemko population in 1945-47, the Greek Catholic church became a Roman Catholic church.
