The church in Szlachtowa is actually the Orthodox Church of the Protection of the Mother of God, a former Lemko Greek Catholic church, erected in the years 1895–1920. In 1946, the church was taken over by the Roman Catholic church and used as the parish church of Of Our Lady, Mediatrix of Graces, of the parish in Szlachtowa . You can easily get to the church in Szlachtowa from Szczawnica and Jaworki. The village itself is a remnant of a Ruthenian village, formerly inhabited by the Lemkos. Currently, it is a tourist town at the foot of the Pieniny Mountains. The former church has an unusual, monumental structure and seems to be mismatched to the area, but its interior conceals interesting diversions.
