This is one of the most interesting historic architectural structures in Muszyna. It is located on a steep hill in the Koziejówka range. The castle, which was built around 1390 on the lower peaks of the range (527 m above sea level), was to defend the border and trade routes and act as a customs house. The fortress was the residence of the bishops of Kraków until 1474, when it was almost completely destroyed by the troops of Tomasz Taraczay from Lipany during the invasion of Poland by the Hungarian king Matthias Corvinus. The castle was rebuilt in the Renaissance style by the Hungarians. From that moment on, it only served as a watchdog. From the mid-seventeenth century, the building fell into disrepair. Today, the ruins of the castle have been the subject of many archaeological research, and some of the finds can be admired in the local museum. In recent years, the relics of the castle walls have been secured and the tower has been partially rebuilt, which now serves as an excellent viewing point.
