ECONOMIC POTENTIAL OF THE COMMUNE

In the area of the Health Resort and in the remaining villages of the Commune, a rich network of pedestrian routes has been marked out. In the area of the largest concentration of spa and tourist services, pedestrian routes were built. However, there is no such infrastructure in other areas of the health resort. It is assumed that it will be expanded along with the expansion of activities in other areas of the health resort.

A rich network of bicycle routes has been marked out in the health resort and in the remaining villages of the commune. However, there are not enough bicycle paths, both in the area of the largest concentration of spa and tourist services, as well as in other areas of the spa.

The spa facilities have an area adapted to fitness classes. There are not enough areas for outdoor gymnastics.

Cross-country skiing trails have been marked out in the central part of the health resort. There is no such infrastructure in other parts of the health resort. Moreover, there is no infrastructure for other winter sports disciplines.

Medical facilities are adapted to the current needs resulting from the spa and tourist traffic. With the prospect of a further increase in the number of patients and tourists, the need to expand the medical and medical-related facilities is assumed.

At the stage of diagnosis of the situation in the Health Resort, it was found that the water quality in the Ropa River did not meet the expectations. The reason for such a situation may be the low level of sewage system in the commune, including the Health Resort. It is assumed that it will be necessary to expand the current sewage network.

As indicated above, significant areas of the health resort do not have access to the water and sewage system. This is one of the main investment barriers. It is assumed that the even development of services throughout the health resort will require the expansion of the above-mentioned networks.

Weaknesses contributing to increasing the unused economic potential of the commune are also:

• insufficient technical infrastructure, especially water and sewage,
• insufficient infrastructure adapted to the needs of families, including families with young children,
• insufficient sports and recreational infrastructure, especially in the context of the winter season,
• a tourist offer aimed mainly at people with lower incomes,
• a small percentage of tourists and patients using the services on a commercial basis,
• a marginal share of foreign tourists in the total number of visitors to the health resort,
• no coherent promotional policy of the health resort.
