What is worth knowing about Muszyna and Żegiestów?

Muszyna and its vicinity are called the Land of Gentleness. This health resort is certainly calmer than the close and iconic Krynica-Zdrój. Together with Żegiestów Zdrój lies in the Poprad valley surrounded by the mountains of Beskid Sądecki. The beginnings of the settlement in this place are connected with the trade route running from Hungary into the interior of Poland. Many monuments remain in the city and its vicinity from the medieval times and the times of the "Muszyna State". However, nature, climate and of course mineral waters are the greatest treasures of the city and the region. Żegiestów-Zdrój is a smaller but beautifully situated health resort built on a "raw root" in the 19th century. Its greatest advantage is its location on the Poprad River, between the forests of Beskid Sądecki.

On the way to Muszyna and Żegiestów

Goetz Palace in Brzesko - a historic palace surrounded by a beautiful park.

Czchów - a small town with a historic square layout and a restored tower and a dam. Tropsztyn Castle in Wytrzyszczka. Open in July and August. Inside there is a cafe and a children's corner.

What is worth seeing and experiencing

Muszyna-Zdrój: there is a lot to see in the spa - the historic center, the Sensory Gardens, the Bible Gardens, the Starosts Manor and the Castle Ruins.

Rafting on the Poprad - in pontoons or canoes.

Mofety - in Tylicz and Złockie.

Krynica-Zdrój - the most famous health resort in the area with many attractions and mineral waters.

Słotwiny Observation Tower - built in the form of a path in the treetops, also available for the elderly, families with children and the disabled

Piwniczna Zdrój - another spa town on the Poprad river with historic buildings.

Tylicz - a village with urban buildings with a historic wooden church and an Orthodox church. It is worth visiting the Regional Museum and climbing the Tylicka Golgotha (observation tower), as well as tasting water from the Tylicz mineral springs and seeing mofets.

Wierchomla - both in Mała and Wielka there are interesting places, monuments, places of recreation, water intakes. It is also worth going to the climatic Bacówka nad Wierchomla.

Jaworzyna Krynicka - is the highest peak of the Jaworzyna Range from which there are beautiful views.

When in Muszyna, you must see its gardens, it is one of the city's greatest attractions. The gardens are so diverse that everyone will find their favorite. There are biblical gardens and sensory gardens to choose from - each with a different sense, there are also Gardens of Fairy Tales and Legends, as well as a Magic Garden with recreational ponds. It is also worth getting to know the culture of the Podradzkie highlanders - go to a concert of regional music or taste delicious Poprad dishes. Muszyna is not only regional music, but also a tourist song and atmospheric sung poetry - at the end of August it is worth going to the Babie Lato Festival.

Muszyna and Żegiestów health resorts

In Muszyna-Zdrój and Żegiestów-Zdrój, natural mineral waters and the supremacy climate are used for treatment. It treats diseases of the internal secretion organs, neurological diseases, the genitourinary system, the digestive system, dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system, patients with epilepsy, cardiovascular and respiratory system diseases, as well as with mental retardation. Among the treatments, drinking of Muszyna sorrel and bathing is popular. There are also physical therapy, massages, wraps, hydrotherapy, kinesiotherapy and thermotherapy.

Valuable advice

The region offers many attractions both in summer and winter. In autumn, Beskid Sądecki takes on beautiful, golden colors - it is a great time for mountain hiking, and in summer, lush colorful flowers bloom.
It is quieter here all year round than in nearby Krynica, but when looking for interesting attractions, it is worth taking into account the calendar of local events. In Muszyna, the most popular one is the August Babie Lato, and throughout the year smaller events are organized where you can get to know the culture of the region, local music or Muszyna artists.
You must be prepared to go to the mountains, take trekking poles and good shoes - there are many beautiful trails here, recommended by the doctors themselves.
In winter, it is necessary to take care of thermal underwear and good shoes - there is much more snow here than in other parts of Poland. It is hot in the summer, but the weather is changeable. It is worth remembering about sunscreen accessories and rain cover (in the mountains a cape will be more useful than an umbrella).
